I write you again to ask for your loyalty and dedication to your chapter. Since my last request for donations in 2003, a lot has happened. We did get the fire system installed and passed code. We have replaced all the windows on the first floor, and the upstairs lounge window. The flex duct, which didn't work so well, was replaced with solid duct work and insolated, so in case we ever get AC. Basement wiring was redone to code. The front of the house was painted, new fence installed in the front and side yard next to the fire department. We replaced the old stair treads to the upstairs. And finally the countless repairs the house needs each semester. All these projects we have done by fund raisers and alumni donations.
If we can do all that with fund raisers and general donations, why now a mass cry for help, because this time we want to remodel both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. Let me define remodel. There will be no longer interior walls, no floor or ceiling. Everything will be replaced. The plumbing will be cut back to the wet wall and replaced. The drains and piping will be done by professionals. Everything will be brand new and commercial grade. The floors will be tiled with a three inch tile trim; Showers will be increased to 36 inches. New lights, new fixtures, I mean everything. After all said and done, the bathrooms will be the nicest rooms in the house.
History: Last summer, there was a water leak upstairs. That leak filter down to the downstairs. Both bathrooms took a sever hit. The chapter tried their best to fix the downstairs repeatable. There are still some issues, beyond our control. We are the point a professional plumber needs to be involved.
BB recommended William Fair to help us. He has been contracted to do all the work on the bathrooms. He quoted us $9000.00 for all the work. We have raised $7000.00. Work till be completed by Aug 13. At that time we will have 30 days to raise the remaining balance of $2000.00. Just so you know, we have asked other contractors in Montgomery and Charleston area, either they wouldn't touch the house or give us a respectable quote. I'm very grateful for BB helping us out.
Show me the money: The BOG has been saving money since 2003 in case of emergencies like this. With the chapters help we were able to save up $7000.00. The problem is we used all of our money to get us this far, and now we are coming to you for help. Not only do we need money for the project $2000.00, but since we have no money, we still need $1000.00 to pay taxes this year, we need $2000.00 to pay off nationals, and we also need $1000.00 to get the dead transferred from Father Jacobs to EB House Corp. So in reality we are down $6000.00. Paying off Nationals and getting the dead transferred has been a several year project so that isn't as crucial as the remodel and taxes. Anything you can do to help will be appreciated.
